This is my blog pageColour grading your wedding story
So what is colour grading?
Did you know that almost every major film has been colour graded, this helps to set the tone of a movie, Some are given a subtle grade resulting in a warm and pleasing look, movies like ‘the notebook’ ‘Midnight in Paris’ benefit from this. Others are much more heavily processed to convey a more stylized theme as seen in movies such as ‘Twilight’ or the ‘Matrix’.
The technical process involves lots of enhancements, alterations and tweaking of color levels, gamma, contrast and that’s just the tip of the iceberg, the ending result is to convey a specific look and feel to the movie which in turn creates a much more emotional connection for the viewer. I spend many hours working on the grades of my wedding films, finely adjusting the tweaking settings of each and every scene, the end results speaks for itself.
Below are some examples of filmic grades that I’ve put together from my current edit, you can see how each look is used to help convey a particular style of movie, Love Story, Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller, obviously not all these looks are suitable for weddings but I just wanted to highlight this part of the editing process, click on each image for a closer look.
